Chris Agutter has provided an update on the Sutton United squad ahead of their first match of the 2026/27 season against Woking at the Laithwaite Community Stadium. The U’s are in high spirits following a strong pre-season and are set to field almost a fully fit team for this weekend's game.

The only long-term absentee is Jordan Moore-Taylor, who continues his recovery from an injury sustained during a non-competitive debut away at AFC Totton. Additionally, midfielder Toby Byron has been managing a groin problem but will also miss the match due to his current condition. However, there are positive developments for Brandon Njoku and Charlie Carter.

Njoku, who scored 15 goals last season before undergoing surgery on a torn meniscus, is now back in full training after recovering from his injury. Agutter expressed optimism about Njoku's return to the side: 'Brandon’s back fit and available, which is great. He’s been in full training and looked incredibly strong.'

Carter, who missed part of pre-season with a knock, has also returned to full training, giving the team a significant boost. Both players are expected to feature in their competitive debuts for Sutton.

Agutter will continue his five-match touchline ban, which includes three games from the end of the 2025/26 season. The manager is looking forward to the upcoming campaign and highlighted the squad's readiness: 'We’re in a really good place and we’re looking forward to getting started.'

The team will also welcome several new signings to their ranks, including Emmanuel Osadebe, Temi Babalola, Will Nightingale, Sam Folarin, Omar Mussa, and Spike Brits. Their contributions are expected to bolster the squad's depth.

With a fully fit squad in place and key players returning from injury, Sutton Utd is set for an exciting start to their new season against Woking.
