Greg Olley joins the Coasters
AFC Fylde confirmed the signing of former Gateshead captain Greg Olley, who was part of the York City squad that won the National League title last season. Olley, who did not feature in York’s League Two opener against Bristol Rovers, will take the field for Fylde ahead of their visit to Woking on Saturday.
Olley said on the club’s official website: "It’s a privilege to be here, I’m very excited to get going. I’ve had a very positive pre‑season and can’t wait to translate that to league games. Hopefully we can do something special this season. Along with my experience of last season, getting out of the league, the managers mentality and the club’s ambition, it should be an exciting year!"
Hartlepool United’s summer haul
Hartlepool United’s transfer activity has already paid dividends, with newcomers Will Harris, Jack Nolan and Corey McKeown delivering strong performances as Lee Clark’s side opened the season with back‑to‑back victories over Barrow and Aldershot Town. The club appears unlikely to add more players this summer after a busy transfer window.
Carlisle United eye further signings
Carlisle United manager Rob Elliot revealed that he can bring in additional players if the right target is found. The former Newcastle United goalkeeper, who succeeded Mark Hughes at Brunton Park, has already signed Miguel Azeez, Toby Mullarkey, Adam Desbois and Brad Nicholson. Elliot’s first match ended in a 3‑2 defeat to Worthing, followed by a 3‑2 draw at Yeovil. He and chairman Tom Piatek discussed long‑term plans and budget constraints, with Elliot stating that the club will back him “if the right person is there”.
Looking ahead
AFC Fylde will test Olley’s experience in the upcoming fixture against Woking, while Hartlepool and Carlisle prepare for the next stages of the National League campaign. The summer transfer window has reshaped several squads, and the clubs will look to build on the momentum as the season progresses.
